8 hours after the truck was found burning, it is still smoldering.
The truck had to be dragged around 500yds to reach the street and be loaded on a flatbed tow truck.
This 2007 Toyota Tundra was stolen in November of 2009. It was located by a passerby (who saw it on fire) traveling overhead EB HWY 50 just past the 65th St exit. The local fire department was unable to reach the vehicle due to it being so far from the nearest surface street. The field was very muddy and unstable, fire trucks would have got stuck had they tried to drive the 500+ yards to get to the truck.
Up to the differential the exhaust is actually touching the ground here.
The manual locking hub would not engage on this side.
This truck was stuck in the home owners back yard. It was approximately 150 - 200 feet from the front street with about a 35% grade. The truck had to be pulled about a 100 feet before the owner was able to drive out the rest of the way.
The now secure bobcat ready to be recovered.
A flat bed and wrecker are used to secure and recover the bobcat
At the end of their day, contruction workers parked this bobcat approximately 3 feet away from the brick wall seen here. Upon arrival the next day and after a heavy rain fall the night before they found the ground at the front of the bobcat was washed out causing it to slide sideways and towards the brick wall next to it. The wheels were inches away from a 2 foot deep trench between the ground and the wall.
This is one of many times that Sam's Towing transported this car during it's restoration. The customer was so pleased with the care and extra measures taken to assure there was no blemishes even to the undercarriage that he would request the same driver everytime. Even though all of our drivers employ the same special care and other drivers have tranpsorted this same car, accomodations were made to always try and send the same driver.
Barely visible the Mercedes sits at the bottom of the creek.
After 3 Hours of Service Sam, Rich, and Scott with the Mercedes.
On New Years Eve 2005, a customer left their Mecedes Benz Loaner Car abandoned after it stalled while they were trying to cross a flooded bridge.
After giving up on getting it started the customer left the car as the water continued to rise, eventually washing the car into the creek bed that was below. It was less than a week later that Sam's Towing was finally able to locate and gain access to the vehicle.
While it is not a necessity, using a motorcycle dolly can be more convenient, time saving and MUCH SAFER than the standard method of loading a bike. Securing the bike to the dolly first, allows the driver to load and then lower the bed without assistance. It also lowers the risk of the bike being damaged or the driver getting hurt while securing the bike in an upright angle.
